Malaga Christmas lights: what we know

2026 timetable pending

Calle Larios is the place to start your festive evening. From there, explore the surrounding streets and squares rather than trying to see everything in one crowded stop.

The City Hall programme checked for this guide is for Christmas 2025. Its design, light-and-sound times and exceptions on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve should not be used as a confirmed 2026 schedule.

Before choosing your evening: check the official municipal Christmas programme. We will add the 2026 switch-on date, show times and closing date here when they are announced.

Cathedral projections & city decorations

The Cathedral and Alameda Principal are useful stops on a city-centre walk. Any Christmas projections, music shows and special displays for 2026 will need their own confirmed dates. A previous season’s programme is not a booking timetable for this year.

An easy Christmas evening walk

Explore the historic centre first, then continue to the waterfront. Fit any confirmed light shows around this flexible sightseeing route and allow extra time for crowds, photographs and a warm drink.

Follow the Christmas lights on foot

Seven numbered stops from Alameda Principal to Muelle Uno. Tap a festive bauble for details and follow the blue walking route. Allow extra time for crowds and pedestrian crossings.

2026 event schedules are awaiting confirmation. Use the map’s full-screen control to open a larger view.

  7. Muelle UnoFinish near the Pompidou cube. Check the current market programme and each restaurant’s holiday opening hours.

Christmas markets & nativity scenes in Malaga 2026

The 2026 market locations, opening dates and nativity-scene programme have not yet been verified in the municipal Christmas programme. Previous editions are useful inspiration, but their dates should not be used to book your 2026 trip. For year-round shopping, explore our Malaga markets guide and local souvenirs.

Programme pending

Santa & children’s shows

Check the current Muelle Uno and municipal programmes for Santa visits and free family activities. Previous years’ dates should not be reused.

Botanical Garden Christmas lights

La Concepción is an option to watch for a separate festive evening outing. The 2026–2027 illuminated event’s dates, ticket prices, walking distance, accessibility and shuttle service have not yet been verified. Check the organiser’s current programme before booking.

Before booking, check the event organiser and the official Botanical Garden website. Current-season prices, accessibility and transport need separate confirmation.

Christmas DayCheck restaurants, museums and attractions individually. Reserve a confirmed meal in advance.

New Year’s DayHoliday opening hours apply; do not assume normal Friday timetables.

Epiphany / Three Kings’ DayA major family holiday in Spain. Verify transport and attraction opening times.

Sources: Andalusia’s official 2026 calendar and the official 2027 calendar notice. See the source links below.

Sunday 6 December remains the date of the Constitution celebration. The observed working-day holiday in Andalusia is Monday 7 December. 26 December is not a regional public holiday in Andalusia.

Restaurants & Christmas meals

There are places to eat during the festive season, but an ordinary opening-hours listing is not confirmation of a Christmas Day service. Contact the restaurant for the date, sitting, menu price and booking conditions you need.

We will list confirmed 2026 Christmas services with a dated restaurant source. Verum, Vino Mío, Balausta and Only YOU are useful places to contact. Ask each venue to confirm its Christmas 2026 service rather than relying on last year’s menu or opening hours.

Booking checklist: confirm whether the menu is fixed, whether children have a separate price, how dietary requests are handled and what deposit or cancellation terms apply.

Shops, museums & transport

Public-holiday status does not mean every shop or attraction follows the same timetable. Check each museum, monument and restaurant directly, especially for 25 December, 1 January and 6 January. Sunday shopping dates and festive bus or metro services will be added when current official information is available.

New Year’s Eve & the Three Kings

31 December 2026: welcoming 2027

The Spanish tradition is to eat twelve grapes with the midnight chimes. For Malaga’s public celebration, use the forthcoming official 2026 New Year’s Eve announcement to check the location, access and entertainment. Check the official programme before planning around fireworks.

5–6 January 2027: the Three Kings

Three Kings’ Day is Wednesday 6 January 2027. The traditional parade is associated with the evening of 5 January, but the city’s 2027 route, time and access arrangements are not yet confirmed here. Weather can affect the final programme, so check the municipal announcement close to your visit.

Keep the year visible when searching: a “Three Kings 2026” programme belongs to the previous festive season. Read our Three Kings guide and check the year before using its timetable.
