Information we collect
In general terms, you control the amount and type of information that you provide to us when using our website. Our legal basis for collecting and processing your personal data (PD) on Signup Forms (e.g. for the Newsletter and/or Media Pack) is based on consent.
You do not have to give us your PD to access and use most of the website. However, if you do not give us enough PD, you may not be able to access and use all our products and services.
We collect the following PD:
Your web browser or mobile device auomatically gives us information including the name of the website you visited before Guide to Malaga. It also gives us the IP address of your computer/the proxy server you use to access the internet, your internet service provider’s name, your web browser type, the type of mobile device, your computer operating system and data about your browsing activity when using our website. We use this information to analyse trends and therefore improve our website and user experience.
When you enter our website and agree to accept cookies, some of these cookies may contain your PD.
When signing up for the Newsletter
We collect your email address only.
When signing up for the Media Pack
We collect your email address, name and telephone number.
Buying products and services
If you buy products (e.g. downloadable guides) from us, your first and last name, email address, physical address (for billing purposes only), credit card or other payment information and other information listed are collected for payment and communication purposes. Guide to Malaga can only access your first and last name and email address. The payment information (e.g. credit card details and physical address) is collected by the secure payment system (PayPal and Stripe) in operation on our website. Guide to Malaga has no access to credit card or other payment information or your physical address.
Use of your credit card or other payment methods
How your information is used
We use the information we receive from you to:
- Offer you information about Guide to Malaga (e.g. through our Media Pack) and Malaga (e.g. through our Newsletter).
- Provide the products and services you have requested or purchased from us.
- Personalise and customise our content.
- Make improvements to our website and improve the user experience.
- Contact you with updates to our website.
- Resolve problems and disputes.
- Contact you with marketing and advertising that we believe may be of interest to you.
We never transfer your personal data to or share the information with a third party.
You may unsubscribe at any time via the Unsubscribe option on the newsletter or by sending an email to joanna [at] guidetomalaga.com with the subject line: Unsubscribe.
We collect email addresses using MailerLite, a secure email-campaign service. Their terms and conditions state that “We take reasonable and appropriate measures to protect Personal Information from loss, misuse and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration and destruction, taking into account the risks involved in the processing and the nature of the Personal Information. We reserve the right to monitor your lists, content and response data from time to time to make sure they comply with our TOS, we will never share, sell or rent your customer data to anyone for any reason.
Our data storage centre is in Lithuania (European Union) and has information storage security certificate (ISO 27001) as well as a certificate of IT service management (ISO 20000) so you can rest assured that your Subscribers data is safe with us. We created our Data Processing Agreement to cover the GDPR requirements as they relate to email marketing.”

When we want to share information with you, we use the email address you provided when you registered. You can opt out of receiving emails from Guide to Malaga at any time via the ‘Unsubscribe’ button at the foot of emails sent out through MailerLite or by sending us an email to joanna [at] guidetomalaga.com with the subject line: Unsubscribe.
Sharing information with Facebook and Google for marketing purposes
We may share your PD (but not your email address) with third parties for similar audience marketing purposes, also known as lookalike audience marketing. The third parties we share your PD with for this type of marketing include Facebook and/or Google. This helps us find new audiences (users and customers) based on similar interests to yours. We only share your PD with Facebook and Google for this type of marketing. By using our website and agreeing to our privacy notice, you are giving your consent for your PD to be used for the marketing purposes described in this section.
Legally required releases of information
We may be legally required to disclose your PD if it is:
- required by subpoena, law, or other legal processes;
- necessary to assist law enforcement officials or government enforcement agencies;

Disclosure to successors

We also retain the right to transfer your PD if our company files for bankruptcy and some or all of our assets are sold to another individual or business.

Guide to Malaga uses the remarketing advertising service offered by Google so you may see ads by Google on Guide our website.
