Palacio Solecio
This 18th century palace has a great city-centre location on Calle Granada and just a stone’s throw from all the attractions. Once home to an Italian playing cards manufacturer, it’s now a fully-restored 4-star hotel.
The interiors are elegant in marble and carved wood, with reds, greens and golds providing the main colour palette. Rooms are spacious and richly decorated. Those in the Deluxe Palacio category are the best and have views of Calle Granada and Santiago Church opposite (these would be great for a bird’s eye vista of Holy Week processions below). If you want to splurge, treat yourself to the Torre suite, the only room in the tower and with sweeping vistas of the city.
The hotel’s restaurant, Balausta, has a privileged location in the ornate central patio. Top local chef José Carlos García oversees the restaurant and its menu that changes seasonally in tune with local produce.
In 2023, the hotel was extended to include new rooms and a roof terrace.
