Gran Hotel Miramar

Malaga’s only 5-star GL hotel, the Gran Hotel Miramar really takes splurge to the next level. Housed in a turn of the 20th century hotel on the Malagueta seafront, the stunning building was completely restored to its original glory in 2016.

If you’re looking to seriously treat yourself while on holiday in Malaga, we think this makes one of the best options.

Location

When Malaga became a trendy holiday spot in the early 1900s, the Limonar district was the favourite location to stay or build a holiday home. The Gran Hotel Miramar is one of the original hotels and one of the best.

It sits on the seafront, opposite La Caleta beach, with the palm-lined promenade on the back doorstep. Many rooms have Mediterranean views (perfect for watching the sun rise), making the most of the hotel’s position.

La Malagueta and Malaga Port are on the doorstep, putting you within easy reach of shops and restaurants. Malaga tourist attractions are slightly further away – Calle Larios takes about 25 minutes to reach on foot via the lovely portside Palmeral or through the leafy Paseo del Parque. There’s a busy taxi rank outside the hotel if you don’t fancy the walk into town.

Rooms at Gran Hotel Miramar

This is a big hotel and the 190 rooms come in seven types ranging from Premier (actually regular doubles with city or courtyard views) to the Royal Suite on the top floor. Those on the south side have Mediterranean views and some have private terraces.
